Five Tips for DIY Home Decor
So, you want to make a few changes to your home and make it more appealing and inviting. You really can “do it yourself” to save money and get the look you’ve always desired. Here are a few tips from DIY blogs that will make it much easier for you to do.
Paint It - You can completely change the look of an older piece of furniture with a touch up of paint. Today, there are many mineral and chalk paint options that are easier to work with than old styles of paint.
Hardware Matters - When you update a room, make sure you check out the hardware on your furniture and accessories. Old hardware can make your home look dated while a small change can make a big difference.
Lighting - When you update a room, don’t forget the lighting. Good lighting will open up a room and can truly bring things to life. If the overhead lighting in a room isn’t sufficient, add a lamp or too for extra power.
Go Big - Don’t be afraid to try something big and bold to make an impact. A large piece of furniture, a powerful art piece or an accent wall will make a big impact without a lot of work.
Scour the Secondhand Stores - In addition to your existing furniture, why not check out what’s available at local thrift or consignment stores. Or, check Facebook Marketplace and other social media sites to see what your friends and neighbors have available. You don’t have to spend a lot of money to add something new to your home.
